Detailed plans for a greenway walking and cycling route, Connect2, are being unveiled in Hereford High Town on Saturday.
To span the Wye with a new footbridge, it is a route between the city centre and Rotherwas industrial estate.
Interested residents from north and south of the river will be able to view the proposals between 10am and 4pm.
Drawn up by Herefordshire Council and sustainable transport charity Sustrans, it will be part funded by a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
Highways assistant director Richard Ball said: “A planning application is due to be submitted this autumn. We will have a display of plans, including potential designs for the new bridge, on show throughout the day.
“We want residents to have their say and to ask questions.”
Henry Harbord, scheme manager for Sustrans, said: “This new link will be fantastic for Hereford, providing a safe and attractive route so that local people can make everyday journeys without having to rely on their car.
“The new bridge will be of great benefit to everyone in the community, especially those who work in Rotherwas. It will be wonderful to be able to walk or cycle to Rotherwas much more quickly than is ever possible by driving.”
The team will be attending the Flavours of Herefordshire Food Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24, at Hereford Racecourse and the Hereford Winter Fair on Sunday, November 28.
They will also be attending various other local community and interest group events across Hereford.
