Esme’s special day thanks to wish charity

Four-year-old Esme Davies, from Ross-on-Wye, has been granted her wish to go to London Zoo by the Rays of Sunshine children’s charity.

Thanks to the charity’s benefactors and volunteers she was given a VIP tour to make her dream come true.

She is living with eye cancer retinoblastoma, which was diagnosed just before her first birthday.

Esme has undergone chemotherapy and laser therapy, and the tumour has left her with limited sight in her right eye.

She loves the outdoors and was desperate to meet her favourite animals.

The charity arranged for Esme and her family to travel  to London and spend the night at a top hotel. From there, they were collected by limousine and taken to the zoo.

Esme’s mother, Anabel, said: “It was absolutely fantastic that Esme was granted her wish. We had the most enjoyable day out and she couldn’t believe she got to see so many animals up close.

She added: “Esme and her brother and sister loved feeding the giraffes. Other people in the zoo were very jealous.

“Although the children loved the zoo, they said the best part was driving in the limousine.

“It was truly lovely for Esme to go to the zoo  and  for the whole of her family.”

Rays of Sunshine children’s charity was established to grant wishes to children who are living with serious or life-threatening illnesses between the age of three and 18 who live in the United Kingdom.
