Champion delight for rider Lucy

North Herefordshire Pony Club member Lucy Pincus, from Hereford, won Arena A in the intermediate dressage at the Pony Club Championships.

Lucy, 13, who attends Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat School, was riding Rocky, a five-year-old home-bred pony.

The Pony Club Championships took place fromĀ  August 14-17 at Draycott House, Derbyshire.

The championships host the annual finals for intermediate and open level Pony Club members across five of the major disciplines, including dressage and dressage to music, showjumping, eventing, mounted games and polocrosse.

Other competitions being held included the final of the horse and pony care competition, centre equitation competition and the combined training competition.

More than 1,800 Pony Club members competed across the four days of events, having qualified through regional competitions to gain their place at the final.

Established in 1929, the Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organisation for youngsters interested in ponies and riding.

It is now represented in 18 countries and has a membership exceeding 110,477 worldwide, making it the largest association of riders in the world.

There are 345 branches (33,550 members) and 550 centres, with 15,600 members, in the UK.
