Three intrepid dinner ladies from Hereford are swapping their uniforms for jumpsuits in preparation for a 10,000 ft skydive.
Katie Farr, Dawn Morris and Lisa Hibbard, who work at Whitecross High School, will make the jump in August, in an effort to raise money for the disabled son of a former colleague.
They will travel to Whitchurch in Shropshire for a days training before they make the tandem jump.
“Lisa and Dawn are excited but I’m absolutely terrified,” admitted Katie. “I feel sick just thinking about it but it’s for a great cause.”
Their aim is to raise around £3,000 for 14-year-old Jack Lofting, who has severe disabilities and needs 24-hour care, after contracting meningitis and septicemia as a baby.
The trio want to raise enough money to pay for his caring costs and, if possible, send Jack on an adventure holiday.
Katie added: “Jack is a lovely lad – we just want to do something to raise awareness about meningitis and help to give him a nice holiday.” Contact 01432 376091 or email kwilliams20@btinternet.com
