A Leominster couple lived in fear after their heroin-addicted son repeatedly raided their home to stealtems to buy drugs, a court heard.
Paul Evans broke into their house in Croft Street twice in two days but was arrested soon after he had disposed of the stolen goods.
Evans, 30, of Holland Road, Leominster, was jailed for two years and five months at Worcester Crown Court after pleading guilty to the burglaries.
His barrister, Bruce Gray, said it was a tragic case but the couple still loved their son. He had an inveterate heroin habit which he was unable to control.
Prosecutor Mary Wallace said Evans was not allowed unsupervised access to the house because of the history of previous raids.
But, on April 17, he let himself into the empty house with a key and took computer games and a TV. His haul was sold by noon.
Two days later, he called at the house at 6.45am and his mother gave him a cup of coffee. She and her husband locked up at 9.10am but the house had been raided by 11.30am.
Stolen items included a necklace and bracelet. The TV meter box had been forced and £70 stolen.
Police recovered the stolen property the same day and Evans was arrested on April 22.
Evans had also been convicted of assault on his father.
Judge Alistair McCreath said the parents lived in misery and there was nothing they could do to protect themselves.
