New home will create 60 jobs

Around 60 jobs are expected to be created when mental healthcare provider Priory Group opens a new care home for older people in Hereford.

Charles Court is a purpose-built facility with beds for 76 residents needing nursing or dementia nursing care.

The home, off Hoarwithy Road, will be under the leadership of experienced manager Susan Marshall and is expected to open be open by the autumn.

Care will be provided in single, en-suite accommodation. There will also be a choice of lounges and dining areas and a secure, enclosed landscaped garden.

The dementia unit will reflect the latest research in dementia care, focussing on a person’s abilities, says the Priory Group. Dementia signposting will assist with orientation and a reminiscence room is planned.

All residents will have access to planned activities and a wide range of professionals including a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician and GP.

Sharon Butler, managing director of Priory Group care homes division, said: “Charles Court is being well received by healthcare professionals, particularly in light of the nursing and dementia nursing services it provides for the local community in Hereford. The experience the Priory Group has in mental health, complex and long-term care fits in well with older people’s services. People now have more complex needs and associated health issues.

“We are building on our already strong and established areas of expertise and offering a comprehensive range of facilities for service users.” For details call 0845 277 4679.
