Festival in its 30th year

NOW In its thirtieth year, the Leominster Festival has been showcasing home grown talents and welcoming artists from further afield, culminating in a performance from the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday evening.

The orchestra has been a regular at the festival since the inaugural event in 1980 and as tradition befits they will close this year’s festival with a performance at the Priory Church.

Fittingly the musicians will perform Elgar’s violin concerto in B minor and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, considered by many as the ultimate challenge for an orchestra.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £5 for under s. The concert starts at 7.30pm.

There are other events planned for the rest of this week including guided tours, presentation evenings and musical recitals. For a programme of events visit the Tourist Information Centre at 1 Corn Square or call 01568 616460 or visit the website at: www.leominster-festival.co.uk
