Pepper’s a cat in 40,000

sd3438242pepper-19-c.jpgPepper the tortoiseshell male cat is a very rare individual indeed and is causing a stir at the Cats Protection Centre in Allensmore.

The nine-year-old’s claim to fame is that only one in 40,000 male cats is a male tortoiseshell.

Centre deputy manager Claire Worlock told the Journal: “Vet Ailsa Main said she has never seen one before. He certainly is an unusual find.”

She added: “It doesn’t bother him at all as male tortoiseshell cats are the same as any other domestic cat.”

The neutered male is among 42 in care who are desperate to find a home. Anyone who is interested in adopting a cat can telephone the centre on 01432-277543.
