Sainsbury’s Ross-on-Wye store is searching for a local charity to become its food donation partner.
Food donation involves distributing food which is past its display until date, but within its use by date.
The food is edible, safe and nutritious and they are hoping that it will improve the quality of life of some of the most vulnerable people in the community.
Ideally they would like to hear from people charities such as women’s refuges and homeless charities.
But they would also be happy to be contacted by any animal charities or sanctuaries.
Store manager Denver Martin said: “We hate wasting food and really believe in that old saying waste not, want not.
“By donating food to charities, we are reusing the food we cannot sell, and making a positive difference to the community.”
Any interested charities are invited to write to him at the store, which is in Broad Street.
