Farmers and growers raised more than £1,000 for charities when they took part in a big breakfast event at a Ross-on-Wye farmhouse.
Nearly 100 farmhouse breakfasts were served by NFU members Simon and Carol Brewer at Benhall Farm, Wilton.
It kick-started Farmhouse Breakfast Week in Herefordshire and the HGCA campaign is support each year by the NFU.
The Home Grown Cereals Authority, HGCA highlights the benefits of eating a balanced, healthy breakfast and showcases a tremendous variety of locally-produced food.
The campaign also aims to raise awareness among children about where their food comes from.
Members of the NFU Ross and Ledbury branch supported the breakfast and helped to raise £1,092.50 for charity.
Organisers agreed that £430 from the proceeds should go to farming charity, The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, RABI, and a further £430 went to Help the Heroes.
The rest of the money went to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.
NFU Herefordshire county chairman Lesley Whistance was at the event and said she was delighted with the sum raised and all the hard work put in by the volunteers.
She said: “Our thanks must go to Simon and Carol for hosting such a successful event and the support was really good.
“These events are a great opportunity for children, members of the public and others to make the link between food and farming.
She added: “Everyone should know where food comes from, how it fits into a healthy balanced diet and the role regional farmers play in producing it.”
