Ruth Goodman, who features in TV’s Victorian Farm series, will be in Ross-on-Wye on March 17 to give a talk on the programme.
She will also focus on the first farming series, Tales from the Green Valley, which was made in the Lower Wye Valley.
For those who missed it, the series made by Lion Television, followed the lives of Ruth and fellow historians as they worked on a farm in the way people did in the 1620s.
As well as looking at farming practices such as crops and animal husbandry, the programmes also covered domestic life and social occasions, like harvest and Christmas.
Victorian Farm is filmed in Acton Scott, in south Shropshire.
Ruth Goodman is coming to Ross as a guest of Linton and District History Society for their annual Founders Lecture. “Usually our meetings are held in Linton Village Hall,” said chairman Lee Hines.
“But the Founders Lecture has become so popular we are getting pushed for space. As Ruth’s subject is of such wide interest to people in the Wye Valley we thought the Larruperz Centre would be a perfect place to have the meeting, as it is easy to get to from Chepstow, Monmouth, Hereford and the surrounding area.”
Ruth Goodman’s talk will be at The Larruperz Centre, Ross-on-Wye, opposite Morrisons supermarket, on Wednesday March 17 at 7.30pm.
Admission will be £5 on the door.
