Mystery surrounds corpse

Mystery surrounds the grisly discovery of a man’s body in a hedge between the busy A49 and the railway line at Leominster last Friday.

A post mortem examination has revealed that the body was that of a white male aged between 20 and 30 years old, though police have so far not been able to make a formal identification.

A police spokesman said that a range of tests was still to be carried out on the body, which it is believed to have been lying undiscovered for some time in a hedge near the roundabout leading into Leominster’s industrial estate.

The spokesman said that toxicology tests had not been completed, and police were also hopeful that dental records could throw some light on the mystery.

These would be compared with details of known missing people not just in Herefordshire, but over the border in neighbouring counties, said the spokesman.
