Errant motorists who ignore the ‘No Right Turn’ signs and insist on turning right from Camp Road into Alton Road in Ross-on-Wye, will be fined £30, warns the police commander for South Herefordshire.
Inspector Jim McLaughlin said: “We have had a number of complaints from local residents informing us that many drivers are turning right from Camp Road into Alton Road when signs, which are clearly visible, say otherwise. The prohibition is there for a reason - public safety! West Mercia Constabulary is committed to making Ross-on-Wye a safe place to be and that includes the roads too.
“Many members of the public in Ross know that I operate an ‘educate, then legislate’ policy in South Herefordshire. I hope people will heed the warning and spread the ‘thou shalt not turn right’ message to friends and neighbours alike.
“We will give people a short period for the warning to get about but then those who are prepared to flout the law should also be prepared to accept a £30 fixed penalty ticket which will come their way.”
