VW fans rev up vintage models

The familiar drone of the Volkswagen engine will be heard for miles when a Leominster-based VW enthusiasts group gather on the North Herefordshire border for their first ever show in aid of a local charity.

Many varieties of the much-loved Golf, Combi and Beetle models are expected to attend the event, which is being held at Woofferton Grange Farm near Brimfield between May 1 and May 3 in aid of Megan Baker House.

The show will include a vehicle treasure hunt, a fully licensed bar, a graffiti display live entertainment, several local bands and a firework display.

All profits from the show will go to the Leominster-based charity Megan Baker House, which offers free conductive education and helps children and adults with cerebral palsy.

They also cater for sufferers of Parkinson’s disease and those who have suffered a stroke, brain damage or head injury. Megan Baker House founder, Jo Baker Watson said she was delighted that the VW group chose to raise money for the charity.

“We are always so grateful for these fundraising efforts as we have no statutory funding and rely totally on efforts like this,” she said. “It helps us continue to give the children and adults the support they need to help them live independent lives.”

Admission fee will be £7.50 per person all weekend or £5 per person per day with under 12’s free.

Entry will include camping for the weekend. For more information about the VW show contact Gavin on 07779592750 or Sarah on 07876260580.
