Thirty-six cars were damaged in an orgy of vandalism in Kingstone, near Hereford in the early hours of Saturday (January 3).
Damage is expected to run into thousands of pounds.
Police believe a small group of youths went on a circular route around the village, scratching the sides of numerous cars, slashing tyres with a knife, and smashing a windscreen.
After a witness came forward, police arrested two young males on Saturday.
They said one had a cut in his hand. Blood traces were found at the scene of some of the damage, and police are having the blood samples forensically examined. Both youths have been interviewed and are currently on police bail.
Police say they are also expecting to trace and arrest a further three males believed to have been with the two arrested.
With Saturday’s Hereford United home game cancelled because of the cold weather, police intended for duty there were diverted to swamp Kingstone taking statements from villagers.
One resident, Steve Bonham, said: “My wife Joy’s BMW and my Nissan Navara pick-up, which is only six months old, had been attacked.
Both were scratched and the front and rear tyres were flat, the side walls having been slashed, I should think with a Stanley knife.
“I’m told blood was found on some of the tyres, and that one of the lads arrested had a badly cut hand.
“We hear the police are doing DNA testing.
“Similar damage was inflicted on about 34 other cars, all over the village. Police were in the village all day on Saturday, taking statements.
“We think it might have something to do with local gang warfare. Some of the lads in Kingstone used to be at war with a gang from Clehonger.
The Kingstone gang is now thought to have split into two, and I believe the police think it’s all down to gang wars.
“It’s nothing to do with us, the car-owners. We are just the innocent victims of mindless vandalism.”
The police are anxious to hear from anyone in the village who might have information on the rampage.
Anyone with information is urged to call Pc Shirley Peters or Sergeant Andy Bundy at Peterchurch police station on 0300 333 3000 or call the free, confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
