Dinner jackets and posh frocks will be the order of the day at a specially arranged youngsters’’ charity ball in Ledbury later this month.
Youngsters at Ledbury Youth Centre will hold their second Red Ribbon Ball next week in an effort to raise awareness about World Aids Day.
Local bands, the Dandelion Killers and We do Kung Fu will perform at the event, which takes place on on Friday November 28 at 8pm at Ledbury Community Centre.
Funded by a vcashpoint grant, the ball is strictly for under-18s and is being organised by local teenager Jenny Hallam and young people from Ledbury with support from Herefordshire Council’s youth service and Ledbury Youth First.
Entrance is free, although to help make sure numbers are catered for, tickets are required.
Pippa Hart, Herefordshire Council community youth worker, said: “Building on a successful event last year, one of our youth club members put in a bid to run the event again this year.
“The young people have put in an incredible amount of work organising the event - hopefully this year will be even more successful than last year.
As well as organising the event, Jenny will also perform with her band.
She said: “The response to the Red Ribbon Ball has been overwhelming following last year’s great success.
“I wanted to be able to make a difference and create a positive event for young people.”
