Safety fear for missing woman

A major search has been launched for a 75-year-old woman who has gone missing from her home in Wilton, Ross-on-Wye.

Relatives and the police say they are extremely concerned for the safety and welfare of Mrs Marion Warwick.

She was last seen by her husband when she got out of bed at 3am. When he awoke later in the morning, she was nowhere to be found. The police were then informed.

Mrs Warwick is described as white, 5ft 7in tall, of medium build, with short gingery-blonde hair. She is believed to be wearing a long brown cashmere coat on top of pyjamas.

She is prone to occasional memory loss, and requires medication for a heart condition.

Police have launched a major search of the area, using the police helicopter, police tracker dogs from both West Mercia and Ministry of Defence Police and all available uniformed staff from the county.

There is especial concern because of the nearness of her home to the River Wye and the busy A40 trunk road.

Insp Damien Sowrey of Hereford Police, who is co-ordinating the search, said: “We would ask that any sightings of Mrs Warwick are reported to the police as a matter of urgency, using the 999 system if appropriate (otherwise 0300 333 3000).

“I would also urge local residents to check the environs of their property, especially sheds and outbuildings, in case she has sought refuge there.”
