Mass litter-picking session

Despite forecasts for heavy showers, a doughty band of parents and youngsters joined forces for a mass litter-picking session at the Barons Cross estate in Leominster.

With assistance from Community Support Officer Gareth Maddox and Community Housing Officer, Joanne Morris, the group’s endeavours succeeded in collecting more than 20 black sacks full of a variety of rubbish.

All the young people involved in the clean-up were reported to be amazed at the amount of litter collected during the session and comments such as “disgusting” and “horrible” were said to have been bandied about among the group.

As reward for all the hard work, goodies were handed out and Wildplay, a Herefordshire Nature Trust project, arrived on the newly litter-free grassed area at Barons Cross for several hours of creative play.
