Herefordshire Council promised this week to undertake a full analysis of SATS results “at both pupil and school level” after challenges from a significant number of schools on the quality of the marking.
Commenting on this year’s SATS results in a statement issued on Tuesday, the General Inspector of the School Improvement Service, Andy Cooke, said: “Early indications show that the results in English and Mathematics at Key Stage 2 are down slightly from the high point in 2007, although science results have risen from last year.
“At this stage, not all of the schools in Herefordshire have received a full set of results, so the picture is still incomplete.
“Herefordshire Council is also aware that there are a significant number of schools which are challenging the quality of the marking.
“The council will undertake a full analysis of results at both pupil and school level.”
