Old mill to go for homes

Plans to demolish workshops and build seven homes with parking at Marsh Mill, Bridge Street, Leominster, have been approved by members of the northern area planning sub-committee.

The application had been deferred for members to carry out a site visit and seek more cash contributions in line with the planning obligations guidance.

Herefordshire Council’s conservation manager said the former Marsh Mill was an important part of the industrial heritage of Leominster, a town which has already lost many of its former mills.

He felt the mill should be the key to regenerating the site but members were told demolition was needed to provide a safe access to the new homes

The scheme involves the creation of seven homes – four two-bedroomed, two three-bedroomed and one one-bedroomed flat.
