It’s not just visitors that have been swarming to Labels Outlet Shopping, on the outskirts of Ross-on-Wye,
A swarm of bees descended landed and congregated on a bollard outside the store.
Roy Dollery from Acorn Pest Control swiftly contacted a Ledbury beekeeper who came to the rescue and safely removed the bees to nearby hives.
The several thousand bees were believed to be in transit and had stopped off at Labels for a break before flying on to another destination, and it was a million-to-one chance that they would land at the store.
Unexpected spectacle
“It was quite an unexpected spectacle and many of our customers were absolutely fascinated,” said Labels managing director Rachel Addison.
“We cordoned the area off immediately and the situation was resolved within a couple of hours.”
Labels Outlet Shopping has reported a sales increase of almost 7% for the quarter ending June 30, and an 11% increase in customer footfall,
Retail trade watchdog, the Experian National Retail Footfall Index, found at the start of July that retail outlet destinations have borne the brunt of the current downturn, suffering an almost 6% fall in visitors last month.
