Nursery extension gets the go-ahead

Planners have given the green light to a two storey extension to Oak House Nursery School, Brampton Abbotts, despite concerns from some groups about possible increase in traffic.

The plans were approved by planners at their recent meeting, after a previous application was deferred so members could visit the site.

Brampton Abbotts and Foy Group Parish Council opposed the scheme because of concerns over traffic. Objections were also received from three residents concerned at loss of privacy, over-development of the site and increased traffic and another concerned  about parking.

Members considered the applicant’s details of a travel plan and alternative parking arrangements and made it one of the conditions of planning consent.

The extension is to provide a baby room and lobby on the ground floor with staff/therapy rooms at first floor level.

One resident wrote in to support the application saying the “outstanding” nursery provides “excellent care for children”. The council’s children and family information service manager said the nursery was a good quality day care centre.
