They’ve done it again! Minster Lions Cheerleaders have returned home to Leominster covered in glory after competing in the British Cheerleading Association National Championships at the weekend.
Though exact positions are still awaited, the girls’ performance at Telford International Centre was said to be “mightily impressive”, especially as this was their first outing since moving up a further division in the cheerleading stakes.
Minster College’s Tim Miller said after the Lions’ dazzling display, 41 teams were positioned below them and 11 above: “The girls were mightily impressive,” he said, pointing out that the championships were featured on television.
The team thanked Herefordshire Youth Opportunities Fund, who have continued to help providing funding for a third time.
However, there is some sadness among the girls as their assistant coach, Alex Pritchard, will be leaving to go to university.
“Alex has been a real star, an ex-student who continued with cheerleading and took full coaching badges,” says Tim.
“She will be sorely missed.”
