A man is ready to brave a 1,000 mile cycle ride in memory of a friend and to raise money for a charity which helps children deal with bereavement.
Keen cyclist Adam Matchette, of Ross-on-Wye, is planning to cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End next month, to raise money for Noah’s Ark Trust. The charity offers grief support to bereaved children and young people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Adam decided to risk the aching limbs and blisters after the death of a close friend and because of the help the charity provided to the man’s family.
Adam said: “It will be 1000 miles, 21 counties and many burned calories! I’ve always enjoyed cycling and when my close friend Chris Collins was fatally injured in 2006, I decided to dedicate this ride to him.
“Noah’s Ark has helped Chris’s family through some tough times and has helped them come to terms with their loss, so all monies raised will be used to help others in similar circumstances.”
It won’t be all hard work as Adam plans to reward himself with some sweet-toothed refreshments on his arrival at Lands End.
“I will start on August 14 and plan to finish 12 days later on Bank Holiday Monday with ice creams in the Cornish sun”, he told us. To sponsor Adam visit www.justgiving.com/adammatchette
