‘Springboard to Success’

Parents, teachers and pupils at Pembridge C of E Primary School stand to be “floored” by a novel fund-raising project.

The Parent Teacher Friends’ Association at Pembridge has developed an original way of raising £10,000 towards a wooden sprung floor for their new school hall.

Former pupils, mums and dads, local businesses and people in the community have been asked to sponsor a floorboard in return for having their name engraved on a wall-mounted mini board.

The minimum donation for a commemorative floorboard as part of the school’s ‘Springboard to Success’ appeal is £10 and, so far, more than £2,500 has been raised towards the total.

With the school roll extending year on year – pupil numbers topped 100 in April – the new school hall offers far more space and flexibility.

In addition, the hall will also be made available for use by the local community outside school hours.

The inclusion of a wooden sprung floor instead of the standard concrete one was deemed crucial by the school and PTFA, giving children and future users greater safer and a higher-quality environment.

On top of that, the school produces two major theatrical productions each year, while the hall is used daily for assemblies, sport, dance, music and drama, so that a quality floor covering is essential.

Donations can be made in ‘mini floorboard blocks’ of £10, £50, £100 or £500.

Cheques can be made payable to ‘Friends of Pembridge School’.
