School fair has a taste of country

From bees and bats to cows and sheep, and with a good sprinkling of local food fare, there will be a real country feel to the Bridstow CE Primary School summer fair this weekend.

The fun kicks off on Saturday, June 28 at noon with the official opening by the new Mayor of Ross John Davis.

There will be a display of new and vintage tractors and a demonstration of sheep shearing from a local farmer.

The games will also be ‘country-style’ and include cow milking and a pets corner.

There looks sure to be a ‘buzz’ around the local beekeepers as they are on hand to give a demonstration and there will also be a chance to find out more about that other countryside creature – the bat.

In true Wimbledon-week style there will be fresh local strawberries to tempt the tastebuds, along with a barbecue and other refreshments and the pupils will be showing off the courgettes they have been growing especially for the event.

There is a grand raffle with a top prize of £100 and there are other prizes such as days out and meal vouchers for local restaurants.
