After more than half a century in the business, well-known Leominster vehicle repairer Bob Crump is retiring this weekend.
He started in Lyde. near Hereford, back in 1959, and moved his business to Leominster in 1986.
But Bob, who is 65 in August and a popular figure round the town, is not planning to just put his feet up and watch telly.
He believes the secret of a long and happy retirement is to keep busy and stay involved and says he will have plenty to occupy his time.
He enjoys gardening and plans to work part-time driving local school buses.
His business, Bob Crump Vehicle Repairs in Clinton Road Leominster, has a bodyshop dealing with all makes of cars.
He has been sharing a building there with another car business run by Colin Jones, who is now taking over both the businesses as C K Motors.
Bob’s wife, Veronica, was head of the pre-school Kimbolton nursery group for about 23 years.
They have two sons: Neil, 32, who now lives in Bristol and Adam, 30, who lives in Hereford.
Having served with the Territorial Army in Hereford back in the 1960s and 1970s, Bob has been a member of Tenbury Wells British Legion for the last 15 years and, as Standard Bearer, he has twice taken part in the Remembrance Day events at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
