International audience for cyclist

It may not have come from President Bush, but a Herefordshire cyclist pedalling round Britain to visit all 56 Anglican cathedrals en route, has been amazed to find a message of support from America on his website.

Gary Bluett, who lives in Letton, has completed two thirds of his journey.

β€œIt is amazing to think that all this pedalling is being followed by people across the world, people we do not know about,” said Gary.

The message on his website is from a man called David Dimmock who lives in New Hampshire and is obviously a keen cyclist himself.

β€œI have vivid memories of the countryside, the rain, the hills, and the winds,” he wrote.

Gary has already visited 35 cathedrals and is hoping to reach Canterbury by the end of the week.

It will be about two weeks before he gets back to Hereford Cathedral, and he has a formal welcome home planned for June 15.
