Graffiti workshop

Graffiti may be considered a nuisance by some people, but not by those who enjoy using paint to express themselves – which is the idea behind workshops for young people at the Recreation Ground in Ledbury this week.

Herefordshire Council’s youth service has employed a professional graffiti artist, Adam Yeoll from Bristol, to work with young people in the graffiti workshops, on tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday, both of which are from 10am to 4pm.

The workshops will begin by helping young people plan and design their work before eventually getting to practice on a board to share or on one of their own.

The final works of art will be entered in a competition to be judged on Saturday at a day of youth activity at which, weather permitting, there will be a Skate Park competition, giving skateboarders, scooter riders and mountain bikers the chance to show off their skills.

The Faction Dance Crew will put on a break dancing demonstration for those who prefer to watch rather than join in.

Ledbury mayor, Councillor Keith Francis, will judge the graffiti entries with Adam Yeoll and the winners will get their artwork displayed at the skate park over the summer holidays.

All events are suitable for young people aged 11+ and are free, although it is advisable to ring in advance to book a place on 01432 261589.
